As you can see sometimes buying extra jump boosters is not going to speed you up. If you have boosters that are obsolete, sell them, you're better off with extra cargo or shields, depending on what you do.
Note: Charge times are relative. A single "Tick" can be slower at slow computers. Also the time to jump can be increased due to lag.
